Press release, Oct 30, 2005:

An international conference marking the end of the GILDANET project took place in Bologna. At this one day event the major results of the project were presented by the participating partners. GILDANET's objectives were to identify the prerequesites of multimodal, cross-border transport chains and to prove the technical and commercial feasibility of such chains. Austrian organizations involved in this endeavour included AUSTRIAPRO and PARADIGMA. Co financing was provided by the Austrian Ministry of Economics and Labour.

The Austrian participants presented the following results:

  • Motorways of the Sea and GILDANET: A presentation about the applicability of GILDANET's results in the context of short sea shipping and the "motorways of the sea" concept of the European Union, held by Dr. Gerhard Burian (Austrian Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour)
  • The ebXML Framework: A presentation by Mag. Nikolaus Sahling and Marco Zapletal
  • UMM Business Process Modelling: Presentation by DI Rudolf J. Bauer in the afternoon workshop, describing the results and the experiences gained with UMM modeling supply chains
