The transport department of the Regione Veneto is faced with the daunting challenge of ever increasing traffic volumes on its highways. Of particular concern are transports of hazardous materials from Cervignano to Trento on the highway past Venice.

As a subcontractor to Teleporto Adriatico, PARADIGMA surveyed legal and administrative measures contemplated or tried in neighboring countries to encourage a modal shift. Specific emphasis was placed on the experiences of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The survey’s results were interpreted with regards to their applicability in the Veneto region.
